Anniversary 2003

Our Lady, Queen of Peace

This is the statue of Our Lady in the courtyard in front of St. James Church. Pilgrims can be seen praying before the statue and some walking on their knees as a penance for their intentions.

St. James Church

The parish church of Medugorje is the center of all pilgrimages. Throughout the Mass can be heard in a variety of languages. The largest attendance at Mass each day is the evening Mass for Peace, celebrated in Croation, with the Gospel read in many languages and pilgrims "of many peoples and many nations".

The Outdoor Altar

A gazebo behind the church of St. James contains an altar for the celebration of Mass, Benediction and prayer celebrations when there are large gatherings of the faithful. Through the years, the pastor of St. James has made the outdoor altar and seating more beautiful and a real place for divine worship.

The Anniversary Mass

It looks like a sea of people gathered for the Holy Mass on the 22nd Anniversary of Our Lady's apparitions. What an awesome sight, to see so many people from so many places gathered in peace and love to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Pilgrims Everywhere

The evening Mass is always so crowded that people are gathered all around the outside of the church. If there is space, there are usually people.

Concelebrating Priests

Seating around the gazebo is so packed with Priests, that they even line the front rows of seating. What an awesome sight for God's people, to see their Priests gathered in great numbers for the celebration of the Holy Mass.
