Fr. Finelli
Who is this Cyber Priest!
My name is Fr. Jay Finelli - from the little state of Rhode Island in the USA. I began surfing the net in August, 1995 and put my first page up on the web in November of the same year. Since that time, I have become a webmaster to many local Catholic sites. In fact, my work on the internet became a news item in the Providence Visitor, when they did two stories about my web pages. The first article went on the Catholic News Wire and to my surprise was picked up by a paper down in NSW Austrailia.

People are suprised to find a Roman Catholic Priest on the internet. I believe this is where we should be today, on the cutting edge of technology. It was the Church that began most early forms of communication to help spread the Gospel message. I have found that this new and wonderful form of communication has become a part of my personal ministry as a Priest.

A little about myself. I was ordained on June 13, 1992, the feast of my patron, Anthony of Padua , in the Cathedral of SS Peter & Paul for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence. Our Diocese includes the entire state of Rhode Island. My studies in preparation for the Priesthood consisted of 4 years in Philosophy and 4 years in Theology, and if you care about degrees, I received a B.S. in Philosophy from St. Hyacinth College-Seminary in Granby, Massachusettes, and a Master of Divinity from St. John's Seminary in Brighton (Boston), Mass.

One might ask what a Priest does in his free time. My lifetime hobby is model railroading. On my day off, I spend quite a bit of time in my metal shop building miniature live steam trains. If you want learn more about that, see my Railroad Page. I also really love music. I enjoy a great variety of styles - from classical, to disco. Also you can tell, I enjoy my computer. See my Macintosh Page. My web pages have been up and running since November 1995. I hope You enjoy your visit. If you send me eMail I promise to respond, but it may take a while. Keep your eyes on these pages, I will continue to update them with new additions and current information. On November 21, 1997 my Medugorje Page, and this year (2000), I put my railroad page on it's own domain - SteamingPriest.com - drop by sometime, I think you'll enjoy your visit.

Most of all, pray for me!

God bless you,
Fr. Jay Anthony Finelli
