The Message of Medugorje

The messages that our Lady has given to the children of Medugorje can be summed up in a few words: conversion, faith, prayer, fasting, peace and reconciliation.

 

• Convert - this is the same message as we find throughout the Bible. This is what Jesus asked of people. Convert means to turn around from things that are bad to do things that are good. Mary wants us to change the things in our lives that keep us from loving God and other people.

   

• Faith - means to believe in God. God loves us so much and wants all people to believe in Him, to know Him and to love Him. The children asked our Lady what her favorite prayer is and she said "The Creed". The Creed is that prayer we say at Mass to remind us of what we believe.

   

• Prayer - is talking to God. Sometimes we pray with prayers we were taught by our parents, teachers and Priests, and other times we pray in our own words as if we were talking to a friend. Mary said that we must pray for ourselves, for others, for peace, and for protection from all that is bad. Our Lady wants us to pray the rosary. We must pray with meaning. She also requests that we read the Bible.

   

• Fasting - is giving up things we like, to help us love God more. We can give up our dessert, a candy bar or a television show. Fasting helps us to be grateful for the many things God has given us.

   

• Peace - Mary has told the children that she is Queen of Peace, and she invites us to live peace in our lives: first we have peace in our hearts by going to church and receiving the Sacraments and praying. Next, we need to have peace in our families by making God the center of our homes and being kind to one another. Finally, we need to help with peace in the world by being nice to all people and forgiving them when they hurt us.

   

• Reconciliation - is a big word to say, we stay close to God and forgive other people who have done wrong to us or our families.
