Questions about Medugorje Updated: November 21, 1997 Q: Why has Our Lady been appearing for so long? A:As we look at a history of apparitions of Our Lady, we can see a progression in events. Early on, Mary would appear for just a short period of time, later for a more extended period. At. Medugorje, Our Lady has been appearing daily for the last 16 years. This causes some people to question if it is truly Our Lady. I believe that Our Lady has been appearing for all these years for a specific purpose. We live in difficult times for both the Church and the world. If we need our mother, we need her more today than ever.One of the visionaries asked Our Lady how much longer she was going to be with us. At that, Mary responded by saying, "Are you tired of me already!" On August 25, 1997 Our Lady stated, "God gives me this time as a gift to you, so that I may instruct and lead you on the path of salvation. Dear children, now you do not comprehend this grace, but soon a time will come when you will lament for these messages. That is why, little children, live all of the words which I have given you through this time of grace and renew prayer, until prayer becomes a joy for you."This is indeed a time of grace for our world. Let us be grateful for the many visits of Our Lady that we have been blest with. Q: Are all the visionaries still seeing Our Lady every day? A: Our Lady appears to three of the six visionaries daily. On Christmas of 1982, Mirjana received the tenth secret, with the announcement that the apparitions would end for her, and on May 6th & 7th, 1985, the same happened to Ivanka. On September 12, 1998, Jakov Colo received his the 10th secret and his final apparition while at a Marian conference in Miami, FL.However, the Blessed Virgin promised each of them that she would appear to them once yearly: for Mirjana, on her birthday, March 18th, and also when circumstances require it; for Ivanka, on the anniversary of the apparitions,June 25th. Mirjana received special apparitions in August, 1984 to help her prepare to reveal the secrets to a Priest and has a special monthly apparition to pray for the conversion of sinners in the world. Our Lady promised Jakov that she would come to him every year on Christmas, the feast of the birth of her Son. Q: For how long is Our Lady going to appear? A: No one knows how long Our Lady will continue to appear. In fact, when one of the visionaries asked her this question, she responded by saying, "Have you grown tired of me already?" She is with us now, so let us thank our Heavenly Father for this grace. A: As part of Our Lady's appearances, she has promised to give ten secrets to each of the seers. And upon receiving the tenth secret, she would no longer appear to them. After the apparitions have ended, the secrets will be revealed to the world. The third secret concerns a visible sign that will be left on the hill as a proof of her visitation. They are called secrets because that is what they are. We do not know more than the visionaries have already stated. Mirjana was told to choose a Priest who, when the time comes, will reveal the secrets to the world. Upon notice from Our Lady, Mirjana and the Priest will fast and pray for 9 days, and the Priest will make the secrect public 3 days before it is to take place.When I receive official confirmation of the secrets being released, there will be a special link entitled, "Urgent News", on the main page of medugorje.com. Until then, let us not speculate as to the secrets, but pray that Our Lady's plan is fulfilled.
